Yes folks it’s Monday morning, 10-30 British Summer Time here in sunny (for a change) Chesterfield and yours truly has decided to embark on his crime novel to beat all crime novels.
I’m feeling very optimistic this morning as I have a few ideas that have come to me either overnight or this morning while I was having my caffeine boost.(Nescafe Gold Blend) and still fighting the dreaded ‘flu’
Getting the ideas flowing is my first task.
Here are the ideas I’ve come up with so far.
Firstly a crime novel set in England in the late 1930’s.
The theme is set around the world record attempts for Steam-Powered Locomotives. A woman is flung from a moving train but when Police come to investigate there is no body on the tracks or any evidence of a murder besides an open door. The golden age of Crime Fiction revisited from a 21st century writer.
There goes the phone….Something else calls my attention. Deal with that. Means I have to go out in half an hour.
Focus.
Next Idea.
A novel set in the early 1990’s featuring a Biker gang.
Based on a true murder of which I have inside knowledge, knowing most of the individuals concerned. Possibilities Yes. Would have to alter the plot a lot so the individuals concerned don’t recognise themselves. they can get a little touchy.
Final Idea.
A silly one set in the near future.
A guy invents a machine that will allow him to see half an hour into the future. He uses the information to start winning big at the horse-races and casinos. The Casino and horse racing owners will stop at nothing to get rid of him and his invention. Good excuse for a comedy novel.
Well, that’s what I’ve come up with so far. Onward and upward. Writing awaits.
Opinions welcome.
