Amanda Ross’s Cactus TV is to team up with ITV3 to launch a set of new crime thriller awards. The awards will cover tv, film and books and will be launched at the Harrogate Festival with the awards ceremony being televised in the Autumn as part of an ITV3 crime season. The season will draw on ITV3 drama properties to feature crime authors including Ian Rankin and Ruth Rendell.
Hot off the presses.
What these sponsors should be doing instead of holding glitzy awards is to be sponsoring poor websites like this one who try to help writers.
Just kidding guys.
Anything that raises the profile of crime-writing I’m all in favour of. I just hope it’s not going to turn out to be one of those affairs where the winners (weren’t you at the CWA Awards? Oh Yes Luvvie) just sit back and pat themselves on the back and say l”look at us, we’ve got fifty percent of all the money in this genre. Pass the Champagne darling.)
Aside from the CWA’s Debut Dagger, the rest of us are somewhat out in the cold when it comes to awards. Hmm. Maybe we ought to start an award for best new novel. I’ll have a think about that.
Now where’s my glitzy bow tie?
OK I’ve thought. Watch this space guys. The Cri-Fi awards are coming.
